| News | | Here are some of many things I would like to see happen for the YC site, and some of these things the poa and myself will need help from the property owners on. A garage sale announcement section, once its added if your having a garage sale please take the time to list your sale and sale dates to aid in making the site more active. I would like to add a forum to the site where property owners can discuss various issues, give the poa ideas, give site ideas, and communicate directly with the poa. This forum would be an awesome addition to our area. It would centralize ideas, suggestions, complaints about the area, solutions to problems, and assist with the site in keeping every resident up to speed on happenings in the area. The only downside to this forum is the best forum software out there cost a one time fee of $180.00. Now I’m willing to donate some of that money when I have the spare cash, but Christmas is just around the corner so as you all know we are all calculating figures on Christmas shopping. And the POA money can be better spent than on a forum, so it is my hope that a few of you dedicated residents will be willing to donate towards this forum. Even $1 gets us closer to our goal of $180. Now I haven’t worked out how donations for this would work, I don’t want you to send money to me! The last thing I want people to think is that I’m here trying to take your hard earned money for my personal gain. So until I can work something out with the POA for you to be able to donate for the forum through them, perhaps we could just do pledges. You can shoot me an email and let me know how much you’re willing to donate if any and I can take these emails to the poa where we can work from there. All I ask is do not pleadge something you will not fulfill. If you cannot afford to make a donation I completely understand, but with this I feel such a forum would bring our community closer. | | New information will soon be coming to the site. With these laptops they are carrying around they are as it seems accessing different wireless routers in the cove to gain unsupervised and unrestricted internet access. If you know how to secure your local network you should do so. If you do not know how to secure your router (if you have one) then you should contact the tech support service of the routing hardware you have and ask for assistance with “router security”. | | Local Resident Provides a Spook House in YC Click Here For Images | | Starting December 1, 2007 thru December 25, 2007 We will begin looking for YC Homes that are decorated! To: The City of Onalaska Police;
The POA, on behalf of the residents & property owners of Yaupon Cove, would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Onalaska Police Department for the pursuit & arrests of the individuals responsible for the numerous incidents of vandalism to the entry sign of Yaupon Cove.
To: The residents & property owners of Yaupon Cove;
Folks, the city of Onalaska has NO OBLIGATION, NOR DUTY, to help us with the substantially increased police problems & increased criminal activity that we are experiencing in the Cove.
This increase has happened, & appears to be getting worse, since the police presence was discontinued. There have been unprecedented numbers of incidents of disturbances, vandalisms, thefts, & felony thefts.
For those of you that do not know, the city of Onalaska discontinued the POLICE presence in the Cove immediately after the annexation petition.
The patrols were discontinued, not because the annexation failed, but because a few of our residents, thoroughly embarrassed the rest of us, with some very negative, hurtful, (& some false) statements about the looks & abilities of some of the officers. Police departments are families, I wonder how those residents would feel if some of the same things were said about them or their families.
Bottom line, folks we are free loading. When the city provides us anything that we do not participate in paying some of the costs involved than we are freeloading, that's disgusting. Further, for those of you that do not know, had the annexation passed (which your board endorsed by 100%) would of only cost us 4% of our cable, lights, & phone bill, for me, the cost would be about $12 dollars a month, for roughly $12 per month we could call a police car 24/7 that is never further than a couple of miles from us.
FYI, since the annexation petition, there have been numerous inquires from residents & property owners asking board members about the benefits & detriments to the inevitable annexation of the Cove. Most, after reviewing & understanding the cost verses the benefits, have reversed their opposition to annexation.
However, this board will probably never present another opportunity for annexation by petition, but we as a board support & are available to help, or advise, anyone in starting their own petition.
Please remember the obvious, your board members live here, we are you, what's good for you is good for us, what hurts you hurts us. This boards primary duties are enforcing "YOUR" deed restrictions & managing "YOUR" money. Folks this is a thankless & time consuming job. Therefore, getting the most bang for our bucks, from a purely fiscal position would have been annexation because it would have been good for the Cove on a cost verses the benefits basis. There is no way we will ever be able to afford all the services & benefits the city could provide.
Further, in an effort to answer all the questions & inquiries we are receiving we are in the process of arranging a question & answer session with Onalaska officials that will be opened to ALL residents, property owners, renters, registered &/or unregistered voters. We will inform all of you of the time & location of this meeting.
